Nabrzeże jest ważnym elementem miasta; nadaje mu atrakcyjności, generuje ruch turystyczny i pełni ważną rolę w trakcie powodzi. Z tego względu prawidłowo zaprojektowany waterfront powinien być nie tylko estetyczny, ale także pełnić rolę ochronną dla miasta. Koncepcja zakłada przeprojektowanie poprzemysłowej dzielnicy Goteborga- Gullbergsvass. Projekt jest odpowiedzią na problemy tego miejsca - odizolowanie poprzez system komunikacyjny oraz złą strukturę funkcjonalną.

W projekcie przewidzieliśmy trzy sposoby ochrony przed zalaniem.

Pierwszym z nich jest wielofunkcyjne wyniesienie, które w czasie powodzi pełni funkcję wału. Znajdują się tam miejsca rekreacji i drobne usługi. W przypadku większej powodzi dla poprawnego funkcjonowania dzielnicy zaprojektowane zostały kładki umieszczone na poziomie +1 i +2. Bezpośrednio z nich można dotrzeć do usług umieszczonych na wyższych poziomach i zejść bezpiecznie w strefie nie zagrożonej powodzią. Ostatnim sposobem zabezpieczenia są zbiorniki retencyjne i ogrody deszczowe rozmieszczone na terenie dzielnicy.

Funkcje

Schemat funkcjonalny został zaprojektowany w sposób, który umożliwia życie, pracę i rekreację na terenie dzielnicy. Tuż przy nabrzeżu ustyuowane są apartamentowce i hotele o wysokim standardzie oraz centrum handlowe w zabytkowej części dzielnicy. Najważniejszą przestrzenią otwierającą oś kompozycyjną jest przestrzeń przy galerii sztuki. Budynek otwiera teren na wodę i stanowi atrakcję- jego dach jest ogólnodostępnym punktem widokowym. W sercu dzielnicy oprócz parku zaprojektowane zostały wieżowce z funkcją biurową, w głębi dzielnicy dominuje zabudowa kwartałowa z usługami w parterze lub wyższych poziomach. Na terenie dzielnicy znajduje się również teatr i kino w nowoczesnych budynkach oraz funkcje edukacyjne - szkoły i przedszkola.

Komunikacja

Główną ideą jest ograniczenie ruchu samochodowego i otwarcie miasta na inne środki transportu oraz pieszych. Udało się to uzyskać poprzez wprowadzenie głównej drogi pod poziom terenu. Wprowadziliśmy trzy profile ulic (w zależności od natężenia ruchu). Uwzględnione zostały drogi rowerowe, buspasy, zieleń oraz komfortowej szerokości ciągi piesze. Transport publiczny nie jest tylko ogólnomiejski- wprowadzone zostały lokalne autobusy. Główny przystanek znajduje się w pobliżu dworca kolejowego, a trasy autobusów umożliwiają dogodną przesiadkę na tramwaj wodny przy waterfroncie lub kolejkę linową, której przystanek początkowy znajduje się w wieżowcach. Te alternatywne sposoby transportu to nie tylko dobry sposób na szybkie przemieszczanie się, ale także znakomita atrakcja dla mieszkańców i turystów. Zieleń, przechodząc płynnie, połączy obszar starego miasta i główne przestrzenie Gullbergsvass- dworzec kolejowy, waterfront, skansen, kulturalny kwartał i park w centrum. Nowa sylweta ma szansę zmienić obraz miasta- trzy akcenty pomiędzy Skansenem Lejonet i budynkiem Erskina połączą charakterystyczne punkty i stworzą nowy krajobraz, co sprawi, że dzielnica stanie się atrakcyjna i bedzie tętnić życiem.

Uprised the levels of waterfront which during the flood acts as a shaft is the first stage of the city's defense from increasing the water level

The waterfront is the most important place in the city; it makes the city attractive, engage tourists and at the same time could be used as nice instrument for protection the city from increasing of the level of the world ocean. The idea embraces transformation of industrial area in Swedish Goteborg, the Gullbergsvass district. The project is going to have a chance to solve the problems with infrastructural system and the diversity of functions.

In our project we propose three methods of protection.

The first way is the creation of rising uprised the levels of waterfront. We propose multi-functional space to rest and small commerce which will cut the water off rest of the city. In case of bigger flood we projected multi-level foothpath, which connetcs services on first and second level. There are places of recreation and small services. In case of a greater flood for the proper functioning of the district, there have been designed footbridges located on the +1 and +2 levels. Directly from them you can reach services placed at higher levels and go down safely in the area not threatened by flood. The last way is to make reservoirs and rain gardens in the area.

Functions

The functions in the project has been selected in the way, which allowed to live, work and have a comfortable space to rest. Near the waterfront are situated high-standard apartaments, hotels and shopping centre in adapted old building. The most important space is square near the Gallery of Art, with widely and available roof and view point. In the heart of district are office in tower blocks, central park and quarters of residential houses with services. We also projected cultural area- theatre and cinema situated in modern buildings and educational function - schools and kindergartens.

Communication

A main idea is to reduce car traffic and open city to other vehicles and pedestrians. To achieve it, we put main road under ground and make streets more comfortable for pedestrians. There are projeted three sections of streets (in dependance of traffic volume). They contains comfortable foothpath, bike path, buspas and greenery. Public communication is planned to be both local and city-wide. The main bus stop is located near the railway station, other bus stops are along main streets, public spaces and waterfront, which is great way to change to water tram or cable railway.They starts from tower block and ends on the other side of water. These forms of transport is not only quick way of moving, but also excellent attraction for tourists. Greenery will connect old town and main public spaces in New Gullbergsvass- waterfront, central park, Lejonet, cultural quarter and railway station. Project encompasses also picturesque pathway through the area- from Erskin to Skansen Lejonet. A new profile changes the image of the city; three accents between Skansen Lejonet, the railway station and the Erskin building connect characteristic places and create a new composition of the city. It will create the Gullbergsvass district attractive for new people and humming with life.
